Windows Safe Mode
Safe mode is often used for things like virus removal, diagnostic troubleshooting, maintenance, program removal, and provides certain utilities that allow the user to reconfigure Windows in ways you cannot while in normal mode. Safe mode basically loads up a minimum of both drivers and services removing some file extensions from programs and applications, that might otherwise inhibit you from performing specific tasks while operating under normal mode.

You will also notice that safe mode does not load a wallpaper background and that only a minimum of icons will appear and even they look kind of distorted, don’t worry, as this is normal for safe made. Your graphics drivers take a holiday and are not loaded while in safe mode. Things happen a little slower and your computer literally looks as though it is not quite feeling itself.

This mode also enables the user to complete several tasks such as deleting files and programs which you may find difficult to remove  when in normal mode. To find out how to remove programs click here. In fact some virus removal tools may require that you boot into safe mode before you begin using the tool to remove a specific virus. IT professionals will very often conduct virus scans etc, in safe mode. This gives them greater flexibility, and generally allows them to perform a more thorough spring clean of the system. They sometimes even disc clean and defrag while in safe mode. I know I do. !!

So we know how to get into safe mode, but how do we get out of it, well that’s easy, repeat the steps above, open the configuration utility once again, click Start/Run and type: msconfig, click the Normal Startup under the general tab then  Apply and OK and click restart.
